How to Style a Coastal Christmas Tablescape

Looking for coastal Christmas tablescape ideas that blend seaside charm with festive holiday style? Whether you’re spending Christmas by the beach or simply dreaming of salty breezes and sandy shores, a coastal-inspired tablescape is the perfect way to celebrate the season in style.

In this post, I’ll walk you through how to create a Coastal Christmas tablescape that combines natural seaside elements, personalized DIY details, and classic holiday touches.

Start with a Neutral Coastal Color Palette

When designing your coastal Christmas table decor, start with a soft, neutral color palette inspired by the shore. We chose crisp white linens paired with shades of gray, black, and just a pop of festive red.

  • Table Linens: A white tablecloth provides a clean, coastal backdrop.

  • Table Runner: A gray-and-white farmhouse-style runner adds texture and warmth.

  • Seating: Black Chiavari chairs bring a touch of formal elegance.

  • Napkins: Red farmhouse napkins add just the right amount of holiday cheer.

This neutral palette allows your seaside-inspired details—like starfish, sand dollars, and seashells—to truly shine.

Incorporate Elements from the Sea

A Coastal Christmas tablescape should feel effortless and natural, not overly “themed.” To bring in beachy details in a subtle way, we added a few ocean-inspired accents:

  • Starfish Decor: Small to medium starfish were hung as ornaments on our farmhouse alpine trees.

  • Table Runner Display: Three larger starfish were placed between the trees for added coastal texture.

  • Sand Dollar Place Cards: These doubled as both name cards and take-home ornaments!

Each piece adds just the right amount of seaside charm while keeping the overall look elegant and festive.

DIY Sand Dollar Place Cards

One of my favorite coastal Christmas DIY projects is creating personalized place cards using sand dollars. They take just minutes to make and add a thoughtful touch to your holiday table.

How to Make Sand Dollar Place Cards:

  1. Use your Silhouette Cameo to cut black vinyl with each guest’s name.

  2. Transfer the vinyl to a sand dollar using transfer paper.

  3. Add a small red ribbon loop at the top.

The result? A charming keepsake that your guests can take home and hang on their Christmas tree.

Add Personalized Coastal Details

To make your coastal Christmas table decor feel even more special, consider adding personalized touches beyond the place cards.

We used our Silhouette Cameo and white vinyl to add simple “V” monograms to disposable glassware. Just choose your font, size, and name, then print and transfer the vinyl—it’s an easy way to create custom glassware that complements your tablescape.

Small details like these help make your table feel polished, cohesive, and personal.

Bringing It All Together

Whether you live near the ocean or just love the relaxed elegance of coastal style, this Coastal Christmas tablescape idea combines everything we adore about beach-inspired living with the magic of the holidays.

With neutral tones, sea-inspired details, and a few personalized DIY touches, your holiday table will be both sophisticated and inviting.

We hope this inspires you to bring a touch of the coast to your Christmas celebrations this year! For more holiday tablescape ideas and DIY inspiration, be sure to explore our blog archives.
